Last week I walked into someone's office & told him that I wanted to let go of a role I've been holding for the past 2 years. I told him that he had no choice but to agree to my request. This is to ensure the safety of everyone in the office - about 80 of us in total.
That wasn't a threat. It was a fact! I meant it!
Seeing he didn't have a choice, he conceded. So now....I am now no longer the fire warden for the floor. Phew~!
Anyway I have a very valid reason for giving up that duty (apart from the fact that won't increase my chances of a promotion or pay rise). It's a reason my male assistant fire warden will never get to use, coz it's just biologically impossible!
At the risk of sounding sexist (against my own sex), I think a male would make a better fire warden. Not just due to the physical abilities. It's just, ermmm, more gentlemanly kan? How do you expect a woman to be the last to rescue herself in a fire?! And what if the woman warden was wearing a pair of high heels on that day?
I've happily given away my 2 helmets - 1 yellow & 1 orange, to the new warden. Helmets I've never worn in my whole 2 yrs as a fire warden. Tak rela nak pakai benda tu, awww~
Come to think of it, what have I learnt as a fire warden eh? I don't even know how to use the fire extinguisher!! *lol* Syukur no real fire when I was holding that post. If not, parah seh! OK wait, maybe I learnt some organisational skills & at the very least, some procedures in case of a fire (except how to use a fire extinguisher, which is probably the most important thing to know, lol!)
Oh well, whatever it is, I hold nothing but fun memories of being a fire warden :D
