Quick fix

I'm not sure whether it was plain laziness on our part, or a desire to get everything over & done with....

We confirmed our decor today! Akhirnya, balik kepada mak andam kitaorang. :P
The price is really competitive but we're really hoping they could set up the tables for us. Plus, do something about the stagefront. Plus, the tablecloth...

So goodbye istana or other expensive high end decor companies. I hope we've made the right decision & I hope they won't disappoint us. Let's hope real hard yah? :)

Still on decor...and a bit on berkat

He drew a really pretty dais picture - a compilation of different ideas. I'm not sure if our mak andam's deco can replicate the design we've got in mind. It's quite simple, really. We'd be contented with just a little roof over our heads :)

Thanks girls for your opinions, now I'm starting to feel that it's alright to pay slightly less than $3k on deco (whoops!).

Actually my heart says it's OK, but my mind says it's not. Yesterday I went to a wedding with really pretty deco, & I'm quite sure it cost more than $3k. I looked around - same chair covers, same table cloths, same rapul2...hmmm..macam tak percaya benda ni makan belanja beribu2. Fresh flowers can cost up to $50 for a little bunch of fresh flowers. I joked with our friends yesterday that we should eat the fresh flowers since it's so expensive (melampau!).

Anyway I had good fun yesternight, engaging in wedding talk with his friends (whom I hope, have become mine too :P). I guess weddings don't come cheap. And perhaps $2.5k to $3k deco is quite standard.

...

Anyway yesterday Mak said that her friend commented about a berkat she received. She had attended a wedding where the deco was grand (read: mahal rabak) but there was an anti-climax coz the berkat she received was only a cupcake.

Actually eh, I thot of giving cupcakes for berkats too (coz i love wedding berkat cakes, so yummy..i can just gobble them down), but then again, betul jugak eh. Tetamu ada mata, ada akal & mereka melihat & berfikir. Kalau si mempelai ni boleh berbelanja wang gini banyak untuk decor majlis, kenapa bila part berkat, kasi benda yang murah & berkualiti rendah? Hmm, tak mau pulak jadi buah percakapan orang.

So yeah, these are the things I'm taking into consideration now. Berkat tak boleh terlalu mahal, tapi jangan pula terlalu murah (read: cheapskate). Yang penting, sempurna tapi sederhana. Pray Allah guides us in making all these decisions.

In 2, 3 minds

Which one should I choose?

The cool, gorgeous deco package that costs a whopping (close to) $3K, or
the simpler one that costs at least $1k less? Would it be sinful to pay so much for deco, something inedible?

How?

Going bridal

Image hosted by Photobucket.commore

Is this lovely or what? Was lookin thru my pbase photos when I stumbled upon shots taken at my aunt's wedding 2 years back (wow, dah 2 years?!)

I intended to engage Tranquilhut to do up the bridal room, but mak said that we might be doing our own bridal room. Hmmm... tu lah, ni semua aku punya pasal jugak. Inspired by a blogger who did the bridal room by herself, I sound to Mak to do it ourselves too! And now...look...

Initially too, I wanted to rent the gubahan trays & baskets (saw some pretty ones by Nuthree creations) but we ended up doing everything ourselves (now, we need some artistic & flowery touch to the end product..takkan nak alat2 letak benda2 tu dalam dulang tu aje kan?).

The funny thing is, Mak & I are were actually not the minahkawin2 type (OK, so now we've morphed into one of those MK2s). We are clueless as to what bunga pahar is, blah blah blah. Lagipon, kita ni jauh dari artistic (OK, mak can sew langsir, I can't).

And now the bridal room?! But *if* we do it ourselves, I guess it'll be a really simple bridal room. I don't really have violent objections lah... after all, duit aku jugak yang sep!

PS: Mahd, if u're interested, my aunt used putrimasbridal. You might wanna check out the make up & outfit. Bear in mind though, pictures r from 2 years back :P

My baskets are almost done

I spent almost one whole afternoon doing up the rectangular basket! It's really tougher than round baskets.

Really a test of patience. I'm not too happy with the wrinkled mess at the sides, but I'm really too lazy to re-do it. Besides, I've put UHU glue & sealed it. I hope his aunts won't examine my work too closely :P

Syukur, over a period of about a month or so, I've completed 5 baskets! Actually I need to sew the flowers on my round baskets before I *really* finish them. Looking forward to actually putting the gifts in the baskets.

Mak has volunteered to do the platters, I'll see if I can help in anyway later on.

Btw, just now Mak said that if i had any questions about getting married, I could ask her. I didn't remember responding positively to that, but I'll definitely keep her offer in mind, just in case...

Struck

2 more items struck off my To-do list!

Alhamdulillah. I have a good feeling about them. Now let's hope & pray & leave it all up to Him to put everything in place, insya-Allah :)

And thank goodness, Bik Imah hasn't thrown away the heart shaped box we used for her wedding last year. That'll come in really handy.

I'm quite excited now!

Sighs of relief!!

Our issue (read: problem) has been solved!!!

Alhamdulillah! Thanks to the kind lady who agreed to open up that place earlier on that day. Syukur.... did we pass Allah's test? Hehehe, well, we were one step short of saying really unkind words for that person who just didn't return our call...but we didn't. Selamat kita tak sumpah seranah orang tu...hihih..

Both of us punya muka very cramp seh, when the lady was talking to the "other person".

But alhamdulillah, now, insya-Allah we won't have to be at the mercy of the "other person" anymore. We're free to get our own deco company. Whooppeedddoooo!!

Neways, we went to see KS deco today. The price is extremely reasonable. But then again, it's reasonable for what you get lah. I'd consider them if we did ours at a void deck or multi-purpose hall. But if you expect a deco as beautiful as that of istana's then, you gotta expect an istanic (alamak, lain jer bunyik..ehehe) price.

Hitch glitch

A little glitch.

Actually a major one. I hope it'll be sorted out soon, insya-Allah. Coz, it'll really affect how the deco would turn out like. 2 hours to do deco, definitely not enough.

Let's see. Possible options:

1. See if we can ride on the kerusi meja used by the CC user on the night before our majlis.

2. Ask if they'd mind us having the decorations on Friday night, so our deco'll be used by them first (boo!)

3. Beg & plead with the CC to open the place up earlier, say 7 am on Sunday.

No more options? Hmmm.... I mean, takkan lah ni kali pertama dalam sejarah CC tu yg perkara macam ni terjadi kan? Insya-Allah ada jalan keluarnya.

Anyway, on to happy things now.

I think we've found a bedroom deco we (or rather I) really like. At $300, I think the price's quite reasonable. Initially I was quite inspired by this blogger who DIY-ed her bedroom deco. But then again, the kain'll prolly cost me a lot & I have no clue how to fix the kain2 behind the bed.

Second happy thing, we found a bed we both liked. And we've paid for it! Ishk, chop chop right? This is quite exciting, my first queen bed ever, & it's his first bed (that he's finally gonna sleep in) ever! Yipppeee! The mattress quite steep (as in, price wise) lah dear. Make sure it's as ergonomic as you claim it is tau! :P

Look forward to more happy things in future.

Next: berkat blues

Bakullls

Hosted by Photobucket.com

I'm starting to wonder if I've made the right decision in making my own gubahan baskets & trays. It costs A LOT! The extra beads & little flowers Mak bought yesterday already cost us $28. But no point regretting now, right. But yah lah, Mak has a point. At least we get to keep the baskets (for what reason, though? Heheh).

Anyway, I bought 2 more baskets. Soon, they'll be wrapped up in pink satin cloth too, adorned with little magenta flowers at the side.

Guess how much each basket cost? :P

PS: Things are getting really hectic & crazy at work, partly due to my own forgetfulness & poor organisation skills. I hope I don't become a basket case too soon.

When & Where

Finally found out that the stories I heard about people queuing up in front of Kg Ubi CC in the early hours of the morning weren't only hearsay. They're real!

So the makcik beat me to getting the date I want coz she came at 6 am (?!).

But it's okay, we got the alternative date we wanted too.

I wanna thank my fiance, my dad, for making all this possible. Alhamdulillah!
