Helllllpppp... i'm a shopoholic...

Yesterday after work, we popped by the city, despite believing it'll be really crowded.

Surprisingly, it was not that crowded.

At first, we were browsing through for bags for the wedding gifts. The BB bags I really liked were so expensive & they were the only ones with Nett pricing (just my luck lah...of ALL the bags on sale, mine is just not one of them).

I contemplated on a cheaper alternative (selamat pocket AH) but the sling was way too long. It was ergonomic though...it'd be easy to whip out my wallet (which is quite empty except for receipts most of the time, anyway). Then, AH saw a nice BB bag, reasonably priced, at the Hot Buys counter (aiseh..tak glamerrr tol..eheheh). I liked it, the sling wasn't hanging too loosely over my shoulders. Cool. The best thing was, it was only half as expensive as the Nett-priced ones!

So I bought it (and AH paid). Hehehe. I think AH is more relieved that I've finally bought a bag rather than how much the bag actually cost :P

I got a matching wallet too, although not from BB. It's about $20 less than BB's lah but I liked it a lot. Alah, ni brand2 semua ni... buat orang keluar duit lebih ajer (yeah like real, irris).

OK lah, cuma 2 jer items kan? But the ultimate damage was one when we stepped into this mobile shop. I walked out of it with a new handset, less $200. Heheh. He walked out of it with another handset too, after topping up much lesser than what I did.

Sighs. Don't tell anyone, but I actually dipped into my wedding savings account. Sssshh....

And the littlest of the spree yesterday were the FA cookies. Yummy. Biting into one right now :P

Myths & reality

When I was young, I had this perception that all pengantins must be beautiful (i didn't think about the male pengantins, all my thoughts surrounded around female pengantins). And all pengantins must be perfect, and kind, and demure & baik hati (gee, what a thing to think about as a kid).

I really dunno where I got the idea from. But I do remember that the first time I saw a pengantin who was bigger than normal, I felt odd. I just couldn't reconcile my belief and reality. Then another time, I saw a male pengantin who wore sunnies on his wedding day, and I just couldn't accept it. So strange. Kids can be so discriminating. Or was it just me, as a kid? (Sah lah aku ni problem kid)

But as I grow old(er), I realise that not all pengantins are naturally gorgeous & perfect. Pengantins are just ordinary human beings, elevated to a higher level on the day they become someone's life partners.

At the end of the day, when the magic wears off, one'll be back to the same pimply, ordinary person. Just like that. Me, included.

Oh well, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, marry me, marry my flaws :)
I'm pretty to you? Alhamdulillah, that's all that matters.
But of course, I'll still work hard at having as fewest pimples as possible for the days to come.

And just now, Nana told me she wanted to get into this malay-named school. Nevermind it was at the other end of the island. She thought it would be good, being malay (*lol*). I wonder what her perception about secondary school is like. Or perhaps her thoughts are as skewed as I think them to be ? Oh well, let her go through the stages on her own.

I'll not deprive her of the surprise, of discovering how far reality is from myths :)

Blurrr

Egad, I am *SO* Blur!!!!

I left someone a good comment @yahooauctions.com.sg but...I accidentally clicked the BAD rating!! That person sure mengamok kat aku...sighs... benda senang macam gini pon aku tak boleh buat seh... :(

Neways today we trotted down to the antik printer (trust me, it's possibly the most antik printer i've ever come across) to check out the wedding cards (wedding card samples dated back in 1997 pun ada). We're gonna use the same template, cuma tukar card & map & words jer. Eh, come to think of it, banyak jugak kita tukar eh? Neways, mak's mad at me for doing the cards so late. Well, nak buat apa lagi kan, nasi sudah menjadi bubur... tunggu jer lah end of Jun 05 insya-Allah.

Ya lah it's true, yang kena jemput is her, not me. Nak kena tulis nama lagi...

OK lah, I'll try to draft out the amendments by Wednesday.

I'm getting a bit tired of weddings. But I still enjoy looking at online wedding photos.

Slowly

This blog is slowly but surely turning into a ranting blog.

I've deleted my actual ranting blog. No point lah.

Anyway since I'm real, and fairy tale weddings don't exist anyway, I might as well make the wedding blog real too. :P

At ten past 8 am this morning, the home phone rang. I thought...hmm, ni agaknya Bapak...who prolly called to confirm whether I was working today.

Sekali tu..

"Hello, boleh saya cakap dgn Ms Irris (heheh)?"

Memang aku kenal betul dgn suara macam tu. Itu suara parent. One of my kiddos' parents.

Punya lah terkejut aku! I was still in bed...and I stretched myself to pick up the phone.

Well well, it turned out that, she kept the number I used to call to check out whether he was in one of those nights.

So she called me today when her kid encountered some difficulty finding a place.

And the number I used, was Bapak's mobile number (he has lots of free call hours).

And when she called Bapak, Bapak conveniently told her I was at home & gave her OUR home number!

*sighs* So now my kid has my home number.

I wasn't angry at Bapak, or that kid's mom for calling me lah, ni semua my own fault.

Neways, I told the lady, not to call me at this number anymore coz this IS MY HOME NUMBER!! And I told her not to give this number to anyone else.

I think I can trust this lady lah. She was sweet enough to apologise to me. And actually, I have forgiven her. :P

Wokie, lesson learnt. You never know WHO has caller-id. Danger...danger...

As the sounds of Peter Pan & Radiohead filled my ears,

my thoughts went back to the old times when I was 14, or was it 15?

Raw alternative sounds, were a daily part of my life then. It was like coolest thing, listening to Nirvana, Silverchair, the Cranberries... those were the times, where music was such an important part of my life...

Now I don't really identify with any music genre, though I still enjoy raw alternative sounds... really, when I listened to the old CDs, I felt transported back to my blue uniform days.

Sometimes I wished I could play a musical instrument. He can, and I really admire that. You never knew, did you? But there're just so many things I admire you about. Quite quietly, without you realising it.

What I wrote wasn't related to the wedding in anyway, ey?

Except what I'm going to type next... Halim & Suhaila, you've just become the 2nd UWA couple to be married, on 20052005 :)

Will we be the third one? :P

One more settled... :-)

Anyone noticed an additional strikethrough on the list?

Another item struck off the list, alhamdulillah.
The guest tokens! He made his way down to the gudang & placed a deposit.
So insya-Allah the items will be delivered 3 days prior to the date they're needed.

I'm so glad this bit's done. Now I gotta figure out a time & date to make my way down to another gudang - this time, to make the invitation cards.

Apa lagi yang belum buat eh....?

The week

Some quick notes

The guest tokens
Right, alhamdulillah, we've settled on what we want. Boring stuff with exciting packaging (to me lah, hehe). Hmm, Mak's bugging me to get the salesgirl to waive the GST. Haiyah... susah betul lah nak bukak mulut mintak kurangkan harga. I've yet to return her call even..I just hope she doesn't sell the stock to someone else (Nooooo....!!!)

The gift search
...has begun.

Settled are his sejadah & related items, shoes, belt, shirts & food items. Thank God.

Mak found out how much his shirt cost & she made quite a bit of noise.

If she finds out how much my perfume cost (yipppee, my first buy for the gift exchange thingy), she'll flip.

And if she finds out how much the watch we might be getting costs, I think she'll...
prolly throw a fit & get really really really *really* mad at me.

Wokie, one item down for me. Exactly 3 more months from today, insya-Allah.
Sikit2, lama2 jadi bukit (in our case, the opposite, heheh).

Invites

I'd planned to make a trip to the card-maker today, but as it's the first day of my 'good friend' & with a lil sore throat still hanging around, i'm feeling a lil lazy.

This card-making bit has obviously led on to the issue of who to invite.
Relatives? I've left this to my parents.
Friends? I've narrowed the lists down.
Ex-colleagues? Insya-Allah, they're such nice people (*hints*)
Current colleagues? Hahhh..ini ada pening kepala sikit. At the moment, my plan is to invite only my teammies & some close colleagues. But our roles are all inter-twined..and so far my other wedded colleagues have invited the whole department (around 80 people !@@#??!!). I'm not too keen on inviting all of them, actually. Big Boss? Alah, kalau boleh memang aku tak mau invite dia.

Lagipun, I know how precious sundays are to my colleagues in our line of work, so i really don't wanna trouble them.

Tak sangka eh, this invitation bit does carry lots of sensitivity in it after all.
